Parties, snacks and lunch boxes


I make these all the time!  Using ready-made puff pastry sheets these puff pastry pinwheel pizzas are great for a party plate, lunch boxes, morning tea or afternoon tea snacks or even as a little family movie time treat.  They are easy to make and and can be modified to taste preferences.

You'll need:

2 sheets frozen puff pastry,  slightly defrosted.
6 tbsp passatta or pasta/pizza sauce
100g of ham, sliced finely
2 cup grated  cheese

Oil Spray

You can also add or exchange with Salami.

Its also a great way to hide veggies. Try adding capsicum, zucchini or onion  finely diced.


TIPS - The trick here is to work fast.  You don't want your pastry too soft and it can't be rolled or cut.  So start with a partially defrosted sheet and by the time you're ready to roll it should be good to go.  If you've left it a bit long and you cant cut it easy no problems roll it up and wrap in plastic wrap, pop in in the freezer for five minutes. 

  • Preheat oven to 180°C
  • Line two baking trays with non stick baking paper.
  • Spread the pizza sauce over the pastry, leaving a 2cm border around the edge of the pastry.
  • Scatter over the ham and cheese.  Scatter over any other ingredients you'd like to add, go with the theory of less is more, remember they are going to be rolled so keep ingredients light on or they wont cook through properly.
  • Starting from one side, roll up the pastry tightly to enclose the filling.
  • Using a sharp knife cut each roll into approx 15 slices, keep yours sliced rounds evenly sized and no more than 1cm wide.
  • Lay flat on baking tray and spray with oil before putting in the oven.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden.
  • Serve warm, or cold
