5 Best Spooky Halloween Snacks for Kids

I've found the top 5 best Halloween snacks through Google, Pinterest and Facebook. They're all relativity easy and some a even healthy. You can add and change these ideas to suit your family and have a tasty Halloween together.

 Halloween Snacks Strawberry Ghosts

Strawberry Ghosts Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1-2 punnet of strawberries
  • 1/2 packet of white chocolate
  • 1/4 packet of milk chocolate bits
  • 1 small packet of sultanas

Method

Wash and dry all the strawberries and put them to the side.

Line a large tray with baking paper to place your dripped strawberries on. This will make it so much easier to remove once the chocolate has set.

Melt your white chocolate in a mug (microwave for around 1 minute).

Dip the strawberry into the melted chocolate as much as you can, place it on the baking tray and pop two milk chocolate bits on for eyes and a sultana for the mouth. If your strawberries are cold from being in the fridge then you'll need to work quickly before the chocolate hardens.

Pop them in the fridge to keep them fresh.

**Tip: Sometimes the sultanas need to be squashed in between your fingers to get a good oval shape. Position them on a slight angle to give that 'Scream' look.

Halloween Snacks Banana Ghosts Spooky foods

Banana Ghosts Recipe

Ingredients

  • 8+ Pre-packed bananas (small/mini bananas)
  • 1/2 cup of melted white chocolate OR vanilla yoghurt
  • 1/4 packet of milk chocolate bits
  • 1/2 cup shredded or desiccated coconut

Method

Line a large tray with baking paper. *This will need to fit in your freezer.

Peal the bananas and cut them in half. Pop them on a popsicle, pushing it up the middle about halfway. Place them on your baking paper and freeze them for 4+ hours.

*Chocolate or yoghurt? I did both and prefer the chocolate coated bananas only because they lasted longer. The yoghurt dipped bananas need to be eaten ASAP or they turn mushy and fall of the sticks.

Dip all the banana into the melted chocolate OR yoghurt, roll it in coconut, place it on the baking tray and pop two milk chocolate eyes on.

Serve now or pop them back in the freezer for later.

Fruit Cup Pumpkins

This is a simple one!

Grab some fruit cups from the supermarket and a permanent black marker.

Create different pumpkin faces to give a simple treat and bit of edge this Halloween. I did a Google image search for Halloween Pumpkin Faces and copied them from there.

I used mandarins in juice, peach in mango jelly and mandarin in mango jelly cups as these were the most orange in colour.

Creepy Cup Cakes

Now I'd love to take credit for these but one of the lovely Mum's at our play group made them and I just had to share!

Ingredients

  • 24 Chocolate cupcakes
  • Packet of worms lollies
  • Chocolate icing
  • Oreo cookies
  • Desiccated coconut
  • Green food colouring

 Method

Make a little hole in the centre of your cooled down cupcakes. Ice them and push a worm lollie into the hole.

Using a bowl, die the coconut with green food colouring until you get your desired colour. Sprinkle this on half of the cupcake.

In another bowl, crush up your Oreo cookies, discarding the white centres. Sprinkle this on the other half of the cupcakes and serve!

Crazy Cookies

This is a great one to get the kids involved with (if they don't eat all the lollies while they're making them!)

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup of melted white chocolate
  • Milk chocolate bits, sultanas & mixed lollies

Method

Spoon on the melted white chocolate, make faces using lollies and leave to set.

Once set they can be stored in an airtight container.
