Marmalade Recipe
Orange, Lemon & Clove Marmalade
This is a really easy to make a marmalade that’s versatile and keeps for months and months in the fridge. I cut all the fruit on a large chopping board that can be lifted so i can easily tip everything into the saucepan.
This makes perfect little gifts. Makes about 6 cups of Marmalade.
You need Jars. Make sure they are very clean and sterilised. I used a baby bottle sterliser in the microwave but you can find lots of different ways to sterilize through google.
Ingredients
4 Navel Oranges
2 Lemons
10 Cloves
3/4 cup Water
3 cups Sugar
Method
- Wash the fruit really well.
- Cut the ends off all the fruit
- Cut all the fruit into thin round slices. Discard the seeds as you go.
- Then go back and cut all the fruit into fine strips. If you'd like it finer go through and chop it up but i like the texture of the threads.
- Put All the fruit and water into a saucepan and simmer for a few minutes to soften the orange peel.
- Add the Sugar into the saucepan and stirring frequently bring to boil for about 15mins. If you start to get colour change it is probably done or nearly done be careful you don’t want to burn it.
- Stir until the sugar has completely dissolved.
- If you want to remove the cloves do so now.
- Allow to cool slightly and then spoon whilst still pretty warm into the jars. Sealing whilst warm helps to create a vaccum.
- Store in the refrigerator
