Here is an easy way to teach the days of the week.

Its important for preschool and Kindergarten Children to know and understand the days of the week.

This is how i taught my son a couple of years ago when he was at Preschool now he's at Kindergarten I used the same concept so he can learn what days he's at school, what days he has which sport, Library day and what days Daddy will be home.

We also learnt a song so now if he asks me what day it is tomorrow i just say sing the song and he knows.

I've created a template for you to use all you have to do is download the document below and print.

pdf

Here's how you do it :

1. Print it out and fold down the middle.

The solid line will be a little off centre to the right.

2. Cut along the dashed line to the solid line.

3. Talk with your child and have them draw in what happens on each day.

I also wrote what the pictures were. Incude school days, library days, sports, clubs, weekends, anything that is consistenly the same week in/out.

4. Fold them all back over and go through the days of the week. Get them to use this on a daily basis. keep it on the fridge or some where handy.  If it gets worn out or things in the week change just print it out again.

Here are the songs i used to help him remember the days.

(to the tune of Oh my darling Clementine)
There are seven
There are seven
There are seven days of the week
Sunday, Monday
Tuesday Wednesday
Thursday, Friday  Saturday

(To the tune of "Frere Jacques")
Today is _______.
Today is _______.
All day long, all day long.
Yesterday was ______.
Tomorrow will be _______.
Oh what fun!
Oh what fun!

Don't forget our Sunday Brunch at Mums link party now goes live Friday nights.

Anything goes - new or old. no need to reference us.

Just pop on over and link up tonight and then visit a couple of others over the weekend to share the love.

Linking in today with Grace for FYBF

What a great way to teach days of the week. My older two have their days of the week pretty well down pat, but I'm going to use your idea to help them remember their school schedules.
