Paper plate crafts are are awesome fun, here we made a couple of Australian Birds really easily and you dont have to make a Cockatoo or Galah you make make any kind of paper plate bird !

One paper plate will give you two birds so its a great craft for a group or class.   Make a big paper tree on a wall and fill it with all different kinds of birds.

Paper Plate Kids Craft Australian Birds

 You'll need:

Paper Plates

White and Black Card

Pink, Yellow and White Feathers

Googly Eyes

Pink and White Felt

Scissors

Lead pencil

Craft glue

 

 

To make:


COCKATOO PAPER PLATE KIDS CRAFT

  1. First we cut the paper plate into half.
  2. Cut into the plate and around the inner rim then a little rounder at the top end. Here is your bird body; tail, body and head.
  3. The plate rim piece you cut off becomes the birds wing.
  4. We glued on our white and yellow feathers. Some for the tail, head and wings.
  5. Next we used our black card cut out a beak, legs and feet and glued them on.
  6. Glue on his eye and he instantly becomes a feathered friend.

GALAH PAPER PLATE CRAFT

  1. First we cut the paper plate into half.
  2. Then we covered one half with pink felt.
  3. Next as we did with the Cockatoo we cut out the Galah Cut into the plate and around the inner rim then a little rounder at the top end. Here is your bird body; tail, body and head.
  4. The plate rim piece you cut off becomes the wing for your bird.
    Then we shaded some white felt with a lead pencil to give our Galah grey and white feathered wing. We glued this to the wing piece and the top shoulder of the bird.
  5. Then we glued on his feathers.
  6. Cut out from the white card his beak, legs and feet.  
  7. Glue on his eye and you have two beautiful Australian Birds.
