Australian Gumnut Babies Australia Book Week Create your own Gumnut family and enjoy hours of playtime!

Snugglepot and Cuddlepie, by May Gibbs' is about two gumnut babies that go on Australian bush adventures. Australian Classics, I read these books as a little girl and loved them. Now I read them to my daughter, though she mainly likes pointing out their bare bottoms in the pictures (three year olds!). Australian Gumnut Babies Australia Book Week

Australian Gumnut Babies Craft

We have two great Gum trees on our property, only problem is they constantly drop so many gumnuts! We often go exploring through them looking for Snugglepot or Cuddlepie, cause you know they're hinding in one of them somewhere. To make this Craft

You just need some Modelling Clay, Gumnuts and imagination!   I had some coloured modelling clay and I've been trying to use it up to make some more space in my craft box. I came up with the idea of making little gumnut people, inspired by the gorgeous Gumnut Babies Snugglepot and Cuddlepie.   Mister One and Miss Three played for hours and continued to play with these little guys over the next 2 weeks. I didn't think they would be such a hit but they couldn't get enough of them! Australian Gumnut Babies Australia Book Week The Snugglepot and Cuddlepie books are Australian classics with the first book being published in 1918. Some of the characters and scenery are based on the plants found in the bushland of Bunbury, Western Australia, where May Gibbs' grew up.

We highly reccomend these books whether it be for Book Week, Australia Day or just for creating some beautiful imagination magic with your children. >  What is your favourite Australian children's book?

Ang would love this! I'll have to flick her the link. She affectionately calls her twins Snugglepot and Cuddlepie! They're so uniquely Australian!
